Tomorrow…the beginning of a brand new year. You can be anyone you want. Accomplish anything you want. I thought I’d share some thoughts from my own reflection, studying, reading, and planning to guide you:

  • The best day of your life is the day you decide your life is your own. No one to lean on, rely on or blame.
  • Life is about the choices you make. Choose wisely.
  • Live your life on purpose.
  • The gift of life is yours, it is an amazing journey, make the best of it.
  • Every single day matters.
  • Love always.
  • Be authentic.
  • Life is now.
  • You are the hero of your own story.
  • Keep your word.
  • Give back.
  • Be grateful.
  • Live passionately.
  • Mentor someone.
  • Forgive.
  • Be present.
  • Don’t “go” through life, GROW through life!

Begin your new book…tomorrow. It just so happens that THIS tomorrow falls as the FIRST day of the NEW YEAR!

Have a safe and happy celebration wherever you may be.

Make it a good year!! And remember…

Closing Out the Year With Strength!

It’s the last day of November and aside from personal development and a few spotty phone sessions, I honestly haven’t done much to move my business forward.

Sad. True. Honest.

I still have THE dream. MY dream. I’m not sure what has been holding me back and I’m here to tell you the time has come to CRUSH whatever it is that has been holding me back!! I don’t need to name it – I just need to overcome it!

The universe is gently guiding me along my path of enlightenment. This quote was on my daily calendar yesterday:

It is what you do from now on that will either move our civilization FORWARD a few tiny steps, or else…begin to march us steadily backward. ~Patrick Stewart

The weekly call with our company last night was entitled: Holiday Game Plan. During the holidays people either POUR IT ON…OR…they unplug. Most unplug. Those that pour it on will get their unfair share of the business. And why not. They deserve to!

It’s important to not become not only a goal setter, it’s vital to become a GOAL ACHIEVER! To become a goal achiever requires action…back to the quote…what are you doing to move your business forward? If you’re not moving forward, even by tiny steps, you’re moving steadily backward.

The final nudge came this morning on facebook, where one of my mentors posted this video from the movie The Pursuit of Happyness.

Protect your dreams.

Work for your dreams.

“If you want something…go get it. Period.”

There are 32 days left in 2010. TODAY I’m realigning my goals with my beliefs. I am going to ROCK December…how about you? I’d love to hear your comments…leave them below!

PS – the path to my dreams begins HERE.

Observing Alex @ Hapkido

Today was a great day! Beautiful and sunny outside…warm enough for just a light sweater. Even greater was the opportunity to observe our son, Alex, as he participated in one of HIS passions…hapkido.
The school where Alex studies Hapkido was holding a testing today for higher level black belts. He was asked to participate in the testing as a “throwing partner” or “uki” (not sure that is spelled correctly). He was asked at random times to demonstrate a particular technique himself. Richard and I dropped by the gym to see him in action and were as usual, smiling and proud parents on the sidelines.
For many years, I was the Mom-taxi that drove Meg and Alex both to their various activities. Large segments of our family life revolved around ballet and hapkido. I can remember many years of dropping Meg off at the Nashville School of Ballet, rushing to get Alex to his hapkido class, staying and watching hapkido and then rushing back to ballet to pick up Meg…and then dinner and homework, etc, etc…. Other days, it was only Meg with a class and Alex and I would both stay and watch ballet class….NOT his favorite thing to do, but often the duty of the younger brother.
I cherish the memories of those hectic Mom-taxi days. It was nice to drop in to the hapkido gym/school and see many familiar faces; adults and children alike who have trained with Alex through the years. It was a comforting feeling to sit on the familiar couch along the side wall and watch Alex “do his thing” on the mat. It was pleasing to see how much Alex has progressed and how comfortable he is in his own skin. The progression for him is more than just physical capabilities, it’s also very much a mental thing. He’s learning at a very young age the importance of paying forward lessons he has learned, sometimes the hard way. How nice to see the teacher in him naturally finding it’s way.
I’m very thankful we made the conscious decision to spend some cherished hours with Alex in his world. It’s always a good thing! See the pictures I snapped with my iPhone in the photo gallery uploaded earlier!

Live with Passion…You Only Live Once!

My life underwent a sudden, drastic, unplanned change last October. I was “involuntarily terminated” aka “fired” from a position I had held for 4 1/2 years. I have never been fired before in my life!

There had been a recent change in leadership coupled with market shifts in the industry and “voila”, I was no longer needed as a member of the Leadership Team. While I can’t say I didn’t “see” it coming…there were “signs” leading up to the “event”…the eventual realization and reality of the emotional rejection were tougher to deal with than I had anticipated.

I’ve been pondering many thoughts and ideas about just “who I am” at this stage of my life and what is it I want out of the rest of my life? I LOVE to travel and have come to the firm BELIEF that travel just has to play a key role in my new identity.

The “feel” I want to live my life with is what I’ve declared…the Spirit of YOLO!

I was inspired by the Aloha Spirit and what it stands for. Most people readily know it as a greeting used in Hawaii for both “Hello” and “Goodbye”.

The Aloha Spirit is a well known reference to the attitude of friendly acceptance for which the Hawaiian Islands are so famous. However, it also refers to a powerful way to resolve any problem, accomplish any goal, and also to achieve any state of mind or body that you desire.       ~ The Aloha Spirit

I am most happy when I am blessing others. Blessing may take on many forms…it might be done with words, with actions, with financial support, with admiration, emotional support, love, friendship, happiness, peace, gratitude and so on.

SO…the Spirit of YOLO was born.

I will live my life with the purposeful intention of blessing others. I will live my life with PASSION!

My family is at the very top of my priority list and I intend to leave them a legacy of being blessed and blessing others. I am an entrepreneur and I intend to help people discover how to live their lives with passion and the Spirit of YOLO. I intend to explore the far reaches of this beautiful planet we live on; I am confident I’ll find opportunities to bless others in my travels. I intend to build a life of financial freedom so I remain in a position to bless others.

I encourage you to consider living your life with the Spirit of YOLO! Imagine the place this world would be if we all focused on blessing others. Ahhh…the peace.
