If you want something…

“If you want something, go get it. Period.”

I absolutely love this video clip. Don’t let anyone steal your dreams.

In honor of Father’s Day – I’m sharing this clip of this wonderful advice given by a father to his young son.

We had an amazing Father’s Day here! First church, then lunch with our son, a wonderful phone call to my Dad, followed by dinner with our son, daughter and her fiancee. Our children claim they did NOT collaborate on gifts for their Dad; yet the gifts were perfect compliments to each other. An amazing coincidence? Or children who actually KNOW their dad? I choose to believe the latter. No matter what, the house was filled with smiles, laughter and love.

Richard has always been a dreamer and has followed his dreams without regret. I hope our children have learned the ability to do the same. Life is to short to do anything less. Enjoy.

The same wind blows on us all…

Listening to a Jim Rohn book as I walked today I was struck by the following thought…

All of us are in like a little sailboat. It’s not the blowing of the wind that determines your destination, it’s the set of the sail.  The same wind blows on us all.

The wind of disaster…

the wind of opportunity…

the wind of change…

when the wind is favorable…

when it’s unfavorable…

the economic wind…

the social wind…

the political wind…

The same wind blows on everybody.

The difference in (where you arrive) is not the blowing of the wind, but

The set of the sail…

Something to think about…how are YOUR sails set? Do you adjust them periodically to keep on track?

We only get to play this game once…

Are you doing what you love? I love the way Gary Vee (Vaynerchuk) puts it:

We only get to play this game one time. We’ve got one life!

Takes me back to the reason I named this blog the Spirit of YOLO! Because You Only Live Once.

For some more motivation and words of wisdom watch this TED talk with Gary…

A dose of positivity!

I’ve been horribly neglectful of my blog, my exercise, my “self” in the past few weeks. I’m working a couple of consulting jobs in the real estate world and suddenly have been busier than usual. As I was searching for my “center”, my guidance, I found this lovely reminder in my email in-box today…

In the words of Rich German:

I’ve observed recently that as the world has gotten more difficult for people, they have lost touch with some basic truths that could improve their lives.

Concepts like:

Everything is possible, nothing is impossible.

There are no limits.

Whatever you can dream of can be yours.

And my favorite… The life you want, wants you!

I came across this short, inspirational video which serves as a fabulous reminder of what is possible for you when you remember how powerful you actually are!

Have a look…

I was definitely inspired! Thanks Rich for the gentle reminder, just when I needed it…that “the life I want…wants me”!

Now I challenge you, my friends…spread the inspiration! We can all use a dose of positivity!

1-11-11: 11 days in…How are you doing with your goals/resolutions?

Are you living your “ultimate pinch-me this must be a DREAM life“? (Thank you Chalene Johnson for that phrasing!)

We are now 11 days in to the new year AND new decade. There is no time like the present to begin moving toward your dream life. How are you doing on the goals and priorities you set for 2011? Are they taking you closer to your ultimate DREAM life?

I set my priorities and made my goals for 2011 on 1/31/10.

HOWEVER…since that time I learned of this 30-day challenge to “master organization and achieve my goals”.  I immediately signed up, am on day 8 and already AM so much more organized, goals and priorities are more defined and honed.

We are now in the part of this challenge where the rubber meets the road. We are working on creating a carefully crafted to-do list and learning tools to maintain it daily! Remember it takes 21 days to make a habit. This process has been incredibly informative and easy to add in to my daily activities.

You owe it to yourself to give yourself the best chance possible at achieving your dream life. Take the challenge and get focused with me!

Connect with me on Facebook at facebook.com/janorga and let me know when you join. We can hold each other accountable!

When your mind is cluttered with the stuff you have to do and the places you need to go, you’re never going to make any progress! It’s time to focus and get organized so that you can finally relax and enjoy the life you were meant to live.          ~Chalene Johnson

I have BIG dreams and BIG goals.

Let’s create the “ultimate pinch-me this must be a DREAM” life together!!

YOLO,

January 1st – 01/01/11 – A Time for New Beginnings

I read somewhere today that everything begins at “1” – and since today is 1/1/11, it’s fitting that we look forward to the new beginnings that a new year affords us.

Look back at all you accomplished in the “old” year with gratitude and look FORWARD to the OPPORTUNITIES that lie ahead.

Finding HAPPINESS is a matter of choice, not chance.  ~anonymous

My husband, Rich and I spent part of the weekend working on goals for 2011. It’s the first time we’ve actually sat down and done this exercise together. Lucky for us – we were pretty much on the same page already with goals that are related to our family.

I found a pretty cool and simple site to help discern your goals and priorities and track them. Check it out.

Lululemon Goals

MJ Durkin from the Prospecting Cafe gives good advice in today’s “daily quote”.

“A new beginning, a fresh start – a new selling year! Turn towards your desires. Desire drives everything in your sales career. Are you clear abou the things you want in the coming year? The newness and the essence of the beginning of the year causes you to focus on getting clarity around the things, experiences and relationships that you wish for. It’s okay to want things! Unleash your imagination and let it go wild with desire! The profession of sales is the one place where your income actually has a chance to catch up with your desire.”

Excerpted from MJ Durkin’s book “Selling from the Heart”

After filling out my goals on the Lululemon site, I found a vision board site on Oprah.com to create a visual. Check it out here: O Dream Board

And here’s MY Dream Board to being 2011:

Now it’s time for YOU to create YOUR vision for 2011. Dream BIG!

Live with the Spirit of YOLO – You Only Live Once!! Live with Passion!

Dare to Dream…BIG!!!

I've often heard that if you don't know where you're going…you'll stay right where you are. That's just not good enough for me – how about you?

I grew up as an "Army Brat" and moved every 1-3 years until I got to high school. I don't know if that instilled a wanderlust into my spirit or if I would have been that way anyway. I love to travel, explore new places, meet new people, have new experiences, etc. I also love to read. My reading lately has been focused on self development and business building.

I'm consistently seeing a common thread in my reading…high achievers have a "Big Why". This "Big Why" is all about having a purpose, a reason for doing what you do, a mission or a need that drives you to focus. High achievers always have a "Big Why".

In the current book I'm reading, The Unemployed Millionaire by Matt Morris, Matt talks about how big dreamers inspire others to dream big. "When you get on fire, people will come from miles away to watch you burn!" Now that's a vision! And a truth…I don't know about you, but when I'm inspired by a leader…I want to spend time around them, whether reading their books, attending their seminar, seeing them speak…it's true…I'll go miles to see a leader I value "burn". I'm drawn to them, like a moth to a flame. Only with a better outcome!!

Matt calls these big dreams – BHAG…Big, Hairy Audacious Goals! He explains that it doesn't take any more energy to dream big than it does to dream small…go for the gusto…create a BHAG!! I love it!!

So…today I was working on MY BHAG – my Big, Hairy Audacious Goals…and it developed into a bucket list. I stumbled upon a very cool website to help track and share your BHAG/Dream/Bucket List. Check it out: shareBuckets. You can join for free and create and share YOUR Dream List.

Let me know when you join – let's share Dreams! Be an inspiration!
